• The bride wears a multicoloured silk dress with white sleeves and a black silk crown and she is made up with red points on her cheeks to scare away bad spirits.
Greece:
• Almonds covered with caramel (fertility symbols) wrapped in tulle are distributed among the attendants.
• At the reception a dance with handkerchiefs (Kaslamantiano) is enjoyed by all while stuffed vine leaves, lamb skewers, and wine are served.

-
England
• Most of the brides wear a horseshoe on one of their arms decorated with lace as a symbol of good luck.
• The fruit cake is covered with marzipan. The upper section (christening tier) is kept until the first child is born.
-
France:
The couple drink from a traditional wedding cup.

• On the wedding night, pots and pans are drummed to disturb the couple. The groom invites friends in and some refreshments are offered.
-
Germany:
• The night before, the couple are loudly teased and dishes are broken.
• Beer, wine and marzipan are served.
• The bride is taken to the church in a carriage pulled by black horses.

Colour Schemes for 2008
Colour is an easy way to give your wedding a sense of continuity. Any shade of white is an excellent contrast for other colours. Choose one accent shade for a simple but stylish look, and use it for details such as ribbon around the bouquets and the icing on the cake.
Gold or Silver adds richness and sparkle. Or you could choose a single pastel shade, such as baby blue, ice cream pink, lemon sorbet yellow, mint green or lilac. A touch of a dark shade, such as rich pink or fuschia adds drama.
A single colour also looks good used in a variety of shades. Pink is of course, the obvious choice since many traditional wedding flowers – roses, carnations, lilies, peonies – come in gorgeous shade of it, from pale to deep.
Here are some original and unusual colour scheme ideas for 2008/2009
This should give you all somethings to think about!
